Craftsmanship build on a Passion for Surfing
Growing up along the Jersey Shore, Brendan's lifelong connection to the ocean began early. Starting with bodyboarding and skimboarding, he was introduced to surfing at the age of 10, sparking an enduring passion. Despite dealing with summer crowds, harsh winter conditions, and prolonged flat spells, Brendan's dedication to surfing continued, leading him to delve deeper into surfboard shaping and design.
During his service in the Military stationed in California, Brendan embarked on his shaping journey. With resourcefulness and determination, he bought an enclosed trailer made from half a truck chassis and sheet metal and equipped with shaping racks gifted by his uncle, a block sander, and an idea he set forth on his shaping endeavors. His first creation, a 5’5” fish, became a familiar companion at The Hook in Santa Cruz.
Following an honorable discharge from the Military, Brendan returned to New Jersey to further his passion for shaping. Under the guidance of his Uncle, he began an apprenticeship, honing his craft for five years. This pivotal period laid the foundation for MooreBoards. Brendan, driven by the precision and meticulousness instilled by his Uncle, approaches surfboard design with a fresh perspective, proudly infusing original customs with new ideas into his creations.
At MooreBoards, we firmly believe that surfing should be an inclusive sport, accessible to all, regardless of circumstance. In an industry where disparities based on affordability are increasingly evident, we are committed to breaking down these barriers.
To counteract the growing divide, we've established the "Share the Stoke" initiative as our guiding principle. We pledge to donate to organizations and communities through surf shops, surf schools, and surf organizations. This ensures that anyone and everyone, regardless of financial constraints, will have the opportunity to experience the joy of surfing. We aim to contribute positively to the surfing community by fostering inclusivity and enabling more individuals to access the waves and embrace the surfing lifestyle.
